With the messy business of a
high-profile foreclosure case and auction of the Versace Mansion over and done with, Miami ridiculous props/culinary king
Barton G. Weiss has returned to his palace, err, the mansion. The
Nakash family of Jordache jeans fame (they must have invested really well since Jordache jeans haven't been popular since, like, 1991)
bought the mansion at auction last year for $41.5 million. After a brief but powerful scare that they might turn the manse, officially
Casa Casuarina,
into an Apple store, or the more hopeful possibility of
a Versace museum, they have instead restored Weiss to complete
his lease that ends in 2020. The Villa by Barton G. has reopened with a new food offering, the Mediterranean restaurant
Il Sole. For people who'd rather not play with their food, there is still a way to enjoy the fabulous gaudiness that is the Versace Mansion when Barton G. opens up a boutique hotel there with
10 suites, one of which will be
the slain fashion designer's bedroom. Terrifying!
